The most commonly offered and best known type of massage, this set of European techniques is used to improve circulation, ease muscle aches and tension, relieve stress, improve flexibility, and induce deep relaxation. Swedish Massage is a fluid combination of long, gliding strokes and kneading customized to the guest’s individual needs and preferences. Pressure can range from light to deep.
This is the best massage for guests who’ve never received massage before, and those who want to relax, de-stress, relieve tired, achy muscles and loosen up muscle tension overall. Deep Tissue Massage
This is not merely a massage using deep or heavy pressure. (Swedish Massage can be experienced as “deep,” too!)
Rather, it is a therapeutic technique that separates muscle groups and loosens fascia (a thin layer of connective tissue covering and supporting or connecting the muscles or inner organs of the body) to bring about the realignment of the body and restore natural movement. Deep Tissue Massage uses direct pressure or friction movements across the muscle grain. Slow strokes with very firm pressure, combined with Trigger Point Therapy are used to work out hyper-specific "knots" in the muscle that cause pain, numbness, tingling, and pain referral to other areas of the body. Deep Tissue Massage usually focuses on a specific problem, such as: limited mobility, recovery from injuries (e.g. whiplash, falls, sports injury), repetitive strain injury, and muscle spasms. After a Deep Tissue Massage, it's not uncommon for guests to experience temporary muscle soreness. This should subside within a day or two. Lymphatic Massage
Lymphatic Massage, also known as Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), relieves uncomfortable swelling as a result of medical treatment or illness, as well as increases the metabolism and strengthens the immune system.
Lymph is a protein-rich fluid containing white blood cells that help your body fight bacteria and viruses. When lymph flow is slowed due to recent *surgery, injury, or illness, the fluid gets stuck and builds up in the body’s tissues. This can lead to swelling, pain, and stiffness. This treatment is exceedingly gentle and often relaxing, involving light strokes on the skin in a specific directional pattern to encourage blocked, stagnant lymph to move to a specific set of lymph nodes to be cleared. Lymphatic Massage is recommended by physicians after liposuction and Body Sculpting treatments such as CoolSculpting, to reduce painful swelling and speed up recovery. It may also relieve symptoms of Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis, as well as frequent viral illnesses. *We do not provide Lymphatic Massage on guests whose post-surgical wounds are uncovered, still seeping or draining. Prenatal (Pregnancy) Massage
Prenatal massage uses the techniques of Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage, but combined with a cushioned pregnancy pillow. This allows the expecting mother to lay face down without putting any pressure on her growing belly. A hydraulic table is used so that when the mother is face-up, she is elevated to prevent compressing nerves and blood flow. Areas that are contraindicated to work during pregnancy are avoided.
Prenatal massage is recommended in the 2nd and 3rd trimester. If you receive massage on a regular basis and you have spoken with your health care professional first, we are comfortable practicing massage in the first trimester. Seated Massage
Seated Massage is performed while the guest is fully clothed and seated on a massage chair designed to take the weight off the spine.
This massage is ideal for focusing on tension in the back, shoulders, neck, arms and hands. Guests who struggle getting on and off the massage table, are short on time, or prefer a fully clothed massage benefit most from this treatment. Couples Massage
Two people, side-by-side, receive their own fully personalized massage in our serene and intimate Couples Suite. Couples Massage is perfect for any two people (romantic partners, best friends, mothers and daughters) wanting to spend quality time together to reconnect and/or celebrate a special occasion (birthday, engagement, graduation, wedding, anniversary, Valentine’s Day, or new baby).
As Couples Massage requires two massage therapists, our schedule fills up quickly. We encourage guests to book well in advance. ***Couples Massage must be booked by telephone. Trauma-Informed Massage
This service is a specialty provided by Sara Pryde and only offered at Push Massage Therapy.
Trauma-informed massage is an approach to practice which focuses on establishing new, safe mind-body connections, resetting the autonomic nervous system (which may be stuck in a survival loop), and releasing subconscious pain and tension resulting from grief or trauma. In any session, only the areas of your body that are up to receiving touch that day will be addressed. Visit www.sarapryde.com for more information on this service. ***If you are currently working through significant life trauma or in crisis, you may want to consider working with a mental health practitioner before or in addition to other healing modalities. |
Massage Add-OnsHot Stone Massage
Hot Stone Massage uses smooth, basalt stones heated in water to approximately 120 degrees. Our Massage Therapists use the hot stones as an extension of their hands, gliding along the body, heating and massaging the musculature. The heat and pressure helps to ease stiffness and pain, improve circulation, and provide relaxation.
Hot Stone Massage is light to moderate pressure, but the heat generated penetrates deep into the soft tissue, giving the guest similar benefits of a Deep Tissue Massage. This is an excellent modality for those who are soothed by heat, want real results, and don't like to feel sore after a massage! Aromatherapy Massage
A massage of any style combined with the application of DoTerra essential oils made from plants, leaves, bark, roots, seeds, resins and flowers. These oils are used to treat emotional imbalance, organ dysfunction, and skin problems.
Our Massage Therapists will customize aromatherapy oil blends to meet our guests’ individual needs and preferences. Cupping Therapy
Cupping is an alternative therapy that involves suctioning the skin with glass, plastic, and silicone cups. The suction of the cups creates negative pressure, lifting soft tissue and breaking up adhesions in the muscles and fascia. This myofascial decompression brings in blood flow to congested and stagnant areas, draining excessive fluids and toxins in the muscles to promote a healing response.
Cupping Therapy is an excellent treatment for pain relief and musculoskeletal injuries like strains, sprains and back injuries. It may cause temporary bruising (known as ecchymosis), swelling or soreness, depending on the person or amount and intensity of cupping performed. The spots left behind typically fade after several days or a week. CBD Massage
A massage of any style using pure, organically grown CBD oil and balms. CBD or Cannabidiol is one of the active chemicals found in the Cannabis sativa plant; however, by itself, it doesn’t *cause intoxication or a “high.” Rather, as it is absorbed through the skin, it is known to aid in relaxation, promote stress relief, soothes joint and muscle pain, and ease inflammation.
*While there is less than 0.3% of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in CBD products, please be aware that THC will still be detectable in urine drug tests. CBD Dream Package
A CBD Massage as described above, plus a delectable Baceae CBD confection, made with THC-free cannabis hemp for ultimate relaxation without the high.
Baceae’s broad spectrum CBD confections are all organic, fair trade, vegan, small-batch, handmade edible treats intended to bring about feelings of well-being, relaxed awareness, and ease. dosage = 30mg CBD + 30 mg CBN Infrared Sauna
